From sidewalk to catwalk, Christian Louboutin has described charming footwear for ladies around the globe. From the last two decades, Louboutin has been impressing ladies with its wide range of shoe collection.

His towering heels have rooted themselves in pop culture -from hip-bounce divas in suggestive videos to strong female characters in TV series like, “Sex and the City.

Christian Louboutin is heaving a monopoly in the business of red-soled shoes in United States. These shoes are a part of the biggest fashion statement accessories that you can think of.  This French Fashion designer has to thank few people like Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Kate White (Editor-in-Chief of Cosmopolitan), Gwyneth Paltrow, Lady Gaga and many other celebrities for making them this popular.

Generally, trademarks for colour takes time to get legal protection. If others duplicate the look at the early stage, this will never be associated with only one designer and subsequently, never turns into an exclusive trademark. With the increase in sales and no other red sole pattern, Christian style picked, up footing as a trademark.

In 1995, the U.S. Supreme Court confirmed that the colour could serve as a trademark, like a logo or a name. Initially, no one questioned the registration at that time and no one copied the style of shoes. There was no rival available in the market.. Many other companies were making soles however red soles was yet the empire of Louboutin.

The red-sole treatment was discovered more by mischance than plan. One evening, Louboutin’s assistant was painting her nails at the time.

“So I got her nail clean and painted the sole and it turns into this red sole, which turned into my trademark a long time after,” he said. “Red means love, passion, blood.”

He also said, “But definitely, high heels makes you never give up”. “You stand for yourself, definitely.”
